Attitude is HUGE!! Let's start there. I am reminded of the words by Charles Swindoll...
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes."
We can't choose others attitudes.. as much as we would like! But OUR attitude is OUR choice. And our mood influences our husband, children and the people around us. Isn't that expression true in your house "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy"?? As I get up each morning, I totally need to think about my attitude. Will it be good or bad? Will I choose to complain about what I don't have or be thankful for what I do? Will I complain about lack of sleep or be thankful for my wonderful family and children? I need to make up my mind as the day begins. As Beth Moore has said "Often we don't just need to change our mood. We need a mindset."
I totally need to look to God to help me with my attitude in the day. As I tackle crisis between the children, attitude from others, stress or disagreements... watching MY attitude makes the difference. Looking for help with my attitude helps me to be" the gentle answer that turns away wrath" instead of "the harsh words that stir up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). Proverbs 14:1 reminds us that "A wise woman builds her house but with her own hands the foolish woman tears her house down." I can see how I am able to do that and have done that with a bad attitude. I want to build my house, don't you?
